Privacy policy

Last updated July 2026

embral is built so that we hold as little of your data as possible. This policy describes the whole picture; it is short because the honest answer to most questions is "that never leaves your computer."

The app, without an account

Recording, transcription, speaker identification, summaries, and dictation all run on your machine. Your audio, transcripts, and notes are stored only on your machine. The app makes network requests solely to download the models you ask for. We receive nothing: no audio, no transcripts, no analytics, no telemetry.

With an embral cloud account

  • Account data. We store your email address, your sign-in devices, your subscription state, and metering records (how many seconds of cloud transcription and how many cloud summaries you used, and when). That is the full list.
  • Cloud transcription. When you select cloud transcription, meeting audio streams through our servers to a speech vendor and the transcript streams back. We relay it; we do not store your audio or your transcript.
  • Cloud summaries. When you select cloud summaries, the meeting transcript is sent through our servers to a model vendor and the summary comes back. We do not store either.
  • Email. Sign-in codes are sent through Amazon SES.
  • Payments. Billing is handled by Stripe; we never see your card details.

What we do not do

  • No selling or sharing of data with advertisers, ever.
  • No training models on your content.
  • No analytics or tracking in the app or on this site.

Deletion

Deleting your account (from the app or this site) signs out every device, cancels any subscription, and removes your account record. Metering records are kept in anonymized form for our cost accounting; nothing in them identifies you. Your meetings are on your machines and were never ours to delete.
